Ralph Waldo Emerson: Brief Biography
Ralph Waldo Emerson was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1803. He attended Harvard, and after his studies taught for a short time. Emerson sailed Europe after the death of his first wife. When he returned to America, he settled in Concord, Massachusetts, with his second wife, Lydia Jackson.
In 1836 he published his first book, Nature, which was conciderd one of his best expressions of his transcendentalism (poets.org). He also wrote a series of essays about transcendentalism. Prehaps the most famous is Self-Reliance, in which Emerson discusses his opions of nature, and the world.
Emerson died of pneumonia in 1882.
